Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a specifically chosen cocktail of peel is applied to the skin to remove the outer unhealthy layer and penetrates to the dermis to purge and cleanse the impurities. It resurfaces the skin which leads to a better texture.

Why Chemical Peels:

Caribbean skin needs to be treated differently. Our skin tones are made of so many ethnic mixes that we require extra care. We are in the sun almost every single day of our lives and that makes us even more at risk for adverse side effects over the years. Sun spots, melasma, aging skin, acne and uneven skin tone are all a result of hormones, diet and the sun. Our aesthetic doctor has a special interest in skin of color and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in treating our population. Extreme care and consideration is taken into account with each patient’s case. Our chemical peels especially cater to skin of color and are used to treat a multitude of skin conditions.

What is a Chemical Peel:

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a specifically chosen cocktail of peel is applied to the skin to remove the outer unhealthy layer and penetrates to the dermis to purge and cleanse the impurities. It resurfaces the skin which leads to a better texture. This treatment is used to treat wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, rough texture, acne, blackheads and whiteheads. Everyone should do these! They are wonderful to help keep you glowing. These peels can be done with a more potent formulation for the body in many different areas such as the elbows, knees, legs, back, chest, buttocks or bikini line.

What To Expect:

Our chemical peels vary in depth and therefore in cost. We start all our patients with a light peel and gradually progress to medium and then to deep peels. We must monitor your skin’s progress over time to determine the readiness of the skin to advance to the next level. Peels can cause burns or hyperpigmentation if done harshly or incorrectly and therefore it is under close supervision that we formulate your treatment plan. Usually a peel is done every 4-6 weeks in the initial phases and then they can be done less often to fulfill a maintenance protocol. Our peels differ from the typical chemical peels as they do not have harsh peeling and are very conducive to those who must return to work right after or the very next day.
